A Surprisingly Green August

A Surprisingly Green August

August is usually the time of year when our pastures begin to look a little tired and dry, but this year has been different. We’ve received quite a bit of unseasonably wet weather, and we’re very grateful for it. The extra moisture has kept our fields greener than we normally expect this late in the summer and has given the alpacas plenty of fresh grass to enjoy.

All that green also makes this a particularly beautiful time to be at the ranch. The herd spends much of the day spread across the pasture grazing, with the babies staying close to their moms or wandering off to investigate something new. We know the warm days of summer won’t last forever, so we’re enjoying these unexpectedly green August days while we have them.
