Rainy Days, Green Fields, and Ready-for-Shearing Alpacas

Rainy Days, Green Fields, and Ready-for-Shearing Alpacas

The last couple of days may have been a little too wet for shearing, but the alpacas certainly haven’t been complaining. With all the recent rain, the fields are turning greener by the day, and the herd has been happily spending extra time outside grazing on all the fresh grass shoots popping up across the ranch. A Montana spring may keep changing its mind about the weather, but the alpacas are making the most of it.

Tomorrow, though, it’s back to shearing season. Wet fleece and shearing equipment simply do not mix very well, so we’ve been waiting patiently for things to dry out before getting started again. We’re looking forward to another busy day tomorrow and thought we’d share a few pictures today of the herd enjoying the cooler weather, fresh grass, and a little pause before haircut time begins again.
