Spring in Montana can be a little unpredictable. One day might feel like early summer, while the next brings a quick snow shower drifting across the pastures. Fortunately, alpacas are incredibly well adapted to handle these quick weather changes.
Their fleece works almost like natural insulation. It helps keep them warm during cold snaps but also allows air to circulate when the sun comes out again. This ability to regulate temperature naturally is one of the reasons alpacas thrive in places with big swings between day and night temperatures.
So while we humans may be pulling jackets on and off all day, the alpacas just continue with their usual routine: chew hay, wander the pasture, and keep an eye out for the first signs of fresh grass.
