After a busy week of shearing, we're excited to say that the mature male alpaca field is nearly complete! We finished shearing most of the boys on Friday, and now only eight alpacas remain on the to-do list. The photos in today's post show a fun mix of freshly shorn alpacas alongside a few of their still-fluffy friends. It's always interesting to see the contrast this time of year, especially when they're standing side by side in the pasture.

With temperatures now regularly reaching into the 70s and even the 80s, the alpacas are definitely appreciating their new summer look. While they may not always enjoy the haircut process itself, they are much more comfortable once their heavy fleece is removed. Next, we'll move on to the juvenile male field before returning to the girls' field to continue shearing there. Every year it's rewarding to watch the herd transition from winter fluff to summer-ready comfort, and we're looking forward to finishing another successful shearing season!
