Why Alpacas Handle Weather Swings So Well

One of the remarkable things about alpacas is how well they handle fluctuating weather. In Montana, spring can shift from warm sunshine to snow in just a day or two, yet alpacas rarely seem bothered by the change.

Their fleece is structured differently from sheep wool. Alpaca fiber is hollow and lightweight, which helps regulate temperature more efficiently. That means the same fleece that protects them during winter storms also prevents overheating during those surprisingly warm spring afternoons.

Nature designed them for high mountain climates where weather can change quickly — which makes Montana feel right at home for them.
